Last Saturday, September 23rd, the Duboce Triangle neighborhood celebrated the opening of McKinley Elementary's schoolyard. This means that McKinley's great yard will be available for the whole neighborhood to use every weekend from here on out. The opening celebration featured friends and families enjoying our mouthwatering tacos while the kids participated in various pastimes such as a nice game of tennis, water painting under the sunshine, soccer, or one of the other many activities held by the organizations that collaborated with us for this event!
This celebration saw many of our favorite partners including but not limited to Little Artistas who provided children with a rainbow of water colors to paint with, and Tenacious Tennis Academy who set up nets and brought rackets so that the kids could polish their tennis skills.
The McKinley PTA also treated attendees with an abundance of delicious treats available from its fundraising bake sale! McKinley Elementary Principal, Molly Pope, spoke during the speaker program along with Supervisor Jeff Sheehy and City College Board Trustee, Alex Randolph.
McKinley Elementary School will be open on the weekends from now on between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The schoolyard will be opened by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks department and cleaned by the San Francisco Department of Public Works.
